Bishop Steven Evans of the Living Faith Church, who is also a Conservative elected representative for Orrell ward, has spoken of the efforts being made in the area by volunteers and his congregation.
Deliveries of food have been made to those who cannot get out to the shops or are shielding and Coun Evans has also been helping to visit those who are vulnerable but cannot be contacted by telephone to make sure they are OK.
His church has also been drawing up lists of those who are lonely or in need of support and creating a rota of phone volunteers to ring those who need to speak to someone.
Bishop Steven said: “That has had a tremendous impact.”
“We couldn’t have envisaged our ministry growing during this time, but we’ve had so many positive comments from people saying it is making a huge difference knowing someone is at the end of the phone and prepared to be there for them, answering questions and helping.”
“I’m hoping that the more people hear about things like this the more others will want to get involved.”
TICCN Churches in Pakistan have responded to the Coronavirus emergency by distributing food among various communities. Muslim, Catholic and Presbyterian people alike have praised the kind work of TICCN through His Grace Church Network. Our volunteers spread the love of the Gospel in the practical distribution of food supplies and advising people in coping with these very difficult circumstances. Bishop Nadeem invited people to support the provision of food further and he can be contacted directly via firstname.lastname@example.org
Bishop Stephen is reaching poor children who have no PPE and little awareness of the Covid-19 risks. They are also hoping to distribute masks and protective items but food is the current main priority.
Christian and Muslim children attending the TICCN Feeding Program overseen by Bishop Stephen Villaester in Illigan City, Philippines. The team meet every Saturday and are feeding and serving 200-250 Children every Saturday morning. The same team also feed the ‘Dump Children’ who live on the local rubbish tip, scavaging for food.
The issue at the moment is that for five Saturdays they were not able to offer the Feeding Program. Adults and children alike are hungry. Can you help us help them and continue our Feeding Program.
